Jonathan Kaiser is an interdisciplinary artist, cellist, and electronic musician born in Milwaukee and based in Brooklyn. Using a hybrid of amplified acoustic resonance and digital processing, his solo performances expand elemental fragments of melody and texture into shifting sound fields that magnify moments in time. Informed by communal listening traditions that value embodied experience – drone, folk, techno – his work explores the visceral phenomena of sound.

Coming from a longtime immersion in the DIY music scene of Minneapolis, he cultivated an idiosyncratic voice as an instrumentalist and improviser through numerous collaborations, touring and recording as a member of the band Dark Dark Dark, and creating two live film score commissions for Walker Art Center. Since moving to NYC during the pandemic, he has performed new solo work and collaborated with likeminded artists such as Elori Saxl, Ka Baird, Mirah, Zosha Warpeha, Chloe Alexandra Thompson, and Lori Goldston.
